Jervis Bay is a marine park with an amazing variety of wildlife, all of which may be seen while stand up paddling. The bay is home to a large pod of dolphins, and there is a seal colony just down the coast with sightings of seals in the bay being quite common.
A huge (but friendly) stingray often frequents the Huskisson wharf area, while lots of smaller stingrays are regularly seen both in the bay and in its main tributary, Currambene Creek.
Birds are another feature of the area, with Crested Terns and Australian Gannets often seen plunging into the bay in search of a meal. Bowen Island at the mouth of the bay accommodates a colony of penguins, and it is not unusual for them to be sighted while we paddle as well.
During the season migrating whales often enter Jervis Bay. I hope to get some images of them this year!
